The process of designing Wave

Overview

Wave is a robotics research project which began in March 2022. I handled the full scope of its development, including the body, limbs and actuators as well as making the robot walk, see and navigate.

Philon Banner

Wave is a general-purpose robot designed to carry out tasks in various industries, including agriculture, oil and gas and mining. It addresses the rising issue of labor shortages.

In the video below the robot traverses a vineyard and analyzes crops.

The hardware comprises of three main sections: body design (including sensors, compute, and power), limb design, and actuator design.

The software comprises algorithms for locomotion (enabling the robot to walk), vision (developing an efficient algorithms to interpret surroundings), and navigation.
